5 Reasons Your Business is NOT Making You the Money You Desire
I’m sitting at Manhattan Beach in LA as I write this post, basking in the sunshine and getting lost in the sound of the ocean waves. The beach is bustling with activity as they set up for a huge volleyball tournament, and surfers await some good waves. Even though I live a few blocks from the ocean up the coast, something about a new place, with its new energy and beauty, makes it even more invigorating than normal.
Probably helped by the fact that I just wrapped up a weekend filled with SO many amazing women and SO many extraordinary speakers at the NAOEM (National Association of Entrepreneur Moms) Success Summit. Talk about invigorating!
One of the speakers that inspired me most was Suzanne Evans, a truly magnificent coach (commonly referred to as the “action expert”) who made her first million dollars in a year working just 25 hours a week while holding down a 60 hour a week J.O.B.! Wow! Needless to say, she had my attention!
Suzanne shared her secrets for turning your purpose into profits in this new era of entrepreneurship. I really loved what she had to say about money. “Money is not the most important thing in the world, but it touches everything that is.”
YES! I know the reason I’m compelled to make millions is not because of the things that money can buy, but the things that money can do! To make the difference in the world and leave the legacy that I plan to leave, bottom line is it requires a lot of money! I imagine many of you can relate.
So if we can all agree that making money is essential, then let’s dive in to the reasons that are likely holding you back from making the money that you ultimately desire.
1.) You’re marketing first. Of course marketing is important, but only AFTER you’re crystal clear on your MOVEMENT. Marketing is about the Strategy that leads to client acquisition, whereas a Movement is about the Impact that leads to lifelong tribe members who will be your greatest supporters!
2.) You’re hiding behind perfectionism. Are you stuck planning and revising and planning and revising (and planning and revising) so that when you launch it’s flawless? If so, keep in mind that to every 3rd grader a 4th grader is a god! You always know more than someone out there, so why not earn as you learn? Just get out there and go for it! The fastest way to learn what your market REALLY wants is to interact with them, and that will certainly not happen when you’re keeping your gifts to yourself!
3.) You don’t have a model that can make you $$$. You need to be clear about how your funnel works. How are you generating traffic, either online or offline? How well is your opt-in offer attracting subscribers? How are your conversions? If you don’t know this….you must figure this out if you want to be massively successful and leave a legacy of lasting change in the world! Finally, do you have systems in place to generate active, leveraged AND passive income? If not, again, this is something you need to get sorted out!
4.) You’re waiting to attract clients. OK, this one might be hard for a lot of you to digest. YES, Attraction Marketing is brilliant, but you have to be proactive to attract people! You need to not only know who your ideal client is, but you also need to get out there and find them! When you have cultivated a mindset of belief, focus, strength and persistence you will definitely begin to attract people to you, but no business happens without you putting yourself out there. The best news is that with the power of social media, you can now sift and sort easier than ever before. Relationships are everywhere waiting to be cultivated…..the question is, are you waiting for them to find you or are you out there making them happen?
5.) You’re selling before serving or you’re not selling at all. Keep in mind that the end goal is NOT the biggest list to sell to. Think about it, what would be more valuable, a list of 25,000 people you are not connecting with at all, or a list of 500 people who have experienced your value and are part of your “hive”? These are the people that will create the buzz about your brand, be a part of whatever you’re up to, and send more business your way! Remember, leads are great, but CONVERSIONS are necessary!
And if you are not getting out there and asking for the sale from the people in your hive, well, quite simply you are leaving loads of money on the table! In essence, what you’re actually doing is setting the stage for the next savvy entrepreneur to swoop in and close the deal after you’ve spent so much time priming the prospect! Yikes! Not to mention the huge disservice you are doing both your prospect and yourself in the process of holding back.
People are hungry for the knowledge inside of YOU! Who are you serving by playing small? If you’re not ASKING, then you’ve got a hobby and not a business!
So which is it for you, a hobby or a business? Are you content with the status quo or are you looking to lead a movement? If so, then you must to be willing to expand yourself and your world view WAY beyond where you currently are!
As Suzanne so wisely stated,“to be the change in the world, you have to change YOUR world.”
