Is Gluten the Cause of Your Health Problems?
If you’re having unexplained rashes, migraines, digestive issues, fatigue/fogginess, unexplained weight loss (or gain), or joint pain….gluten could very well indeed be the culprit. In fact, researchers are discovering that gluten could be triggering more than 300 different symptoms! Yikes.
As I mentioned in my post about my first detox experience, I was whole-heartedly part of the camp that believes that non-Celiac, gluten-sensitivity was the latest fad. But after my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder at 18 months (you can read the full story here), we took him off gluten and casein (the proteins in wheat/ dairy), based on some research I had done (NOT per the Occupational Therapists recommendation), and the results were mind-blowing and life-changing. We are now a GFCF (Gluten-free, Casein-free) house, and we have all benefitted in ways far greater than I ever could have imagined.
I feel so fabulous, that it’s hard not to wonder how much suffering I could have prevented had doctors known about this widespread gluten issue when I developed a cheese allergy from over-consumption 15 years ago. Considering that the body reacts similarly to both proteins (gluten and casein), it would have been wise advice. But I understand that what we now know, and are continuing to discover about gluten sensitivity, wasn’t known 15 years ago.
Well I can’t turn back time, but I sure would love for mainstream health practitioners to begin to accept that many of today’s health issues could be greatly improved, if not reversed completely, through the power of real food.
And a great place to start is with gluten. We simply aren’t eating the same gluten that our grandparents, or even our parents, ate.
It really triggered me when my pediatrician (who I actually think is pretty darn open-minded) pretty much told me that I could “try” removing gluten and dairy, but there was no evidence he knew of to give me any confidence that it would work. He did then add, however, that he had many anecdotal stories from other parents he could share. Hmmm….wouldn’t that make it worth looking it to?!
And now it seems everywhere I turn, I am meeting someone who’s life was changed by removing gluten. Or there sister’s life was. Or their child. My point is, you don’t have to go searching to find someone who has realized how much better they feel off gluten.
It feels like we are reaching the tipping point, where practioners and consumers alike, cannot continue to believe that gluten-intolerance is a fad.
So is gluten the cause of your health problems?
It’s an interesting, and important, question to ask.
Fortunately, Dr. Tom O‘Bryan has made it part of his personal mission to move this question into today’s conversations between patients and healthcare professionals. Asking this question could, potentially, improve the lives of millions now instead of years from now, which is how long it often takes for groundbreaking research to make it to mainstream practice.
Take a look at this video from Dr. O’Bryan to better understand what I mean:
If this resonates with you, the good news is that Dr. O’Bryan has gathered the world’s experts and opinion leaders on the topics of gluten-related disorders and healthy living and nutrition, each in one-to-one interviews about their particular areas of expertise.
The world’s first ever Gluten Summit is a FREE event that is taking place online from November 11-17.
I am so excited about the knowledge that will emerge from this event!
I’m all registered, and you can do so for FREE by clicking HERE.
The Gluten Summit will:
– Bring the latest research to the public eye with interpretation from Dr. O’Bryan
– Call more attention to gluten-related disorders
– Potentially improve diagnosis and treatment in practice
– Teach better practices for safely eating outside of the home
– Encourage more clinicians, practitioners and patients to ask, “Could it be gluten?”
Again, the Gluten Summit will take place online for FREE from November 11-17. Each day, 3-4 interviews will be available to watch on demand for a 24 hour period. The information each interview contains will be educational for you–even potentially life changing–as you learn the importance of these new healthy practices for you and your family.
The Gluten Summit is free for all attendees. Archives of the summit (audio, presentations and transcripts) will be available to purchase for those who wish to retain the educational information that will be presented.
I think this is a not-to-miss event.
I mean, what if gluten IS causing your health issues, big or small? What if there was a different way to live?
A less restrictive, more vibrant and alive way to live?
I know that’s what I’ve discovered for myself and my family. I’m beyond excited that this summit will be bringing this information increasingly into the mainstream, and hopefully increasingly into our doctors practices.
Again, you can register HERE.
This has me dreaming of Widespread Wellness….which starts with being informed and empowered.
